At the Barnesville-Lamar County Historical Society, we are dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of our community. Since our founding in 1973, our mission has remained rooted in the same guiding principles that shaped our organization from the beginning.
We are committed to identifying significant historical events, locations, and artifacts that tell the story of Barnesville and Lamar County. Once identified, these pieces of our heritage are carefully preserved to ensure they are protected for future generations. Finally, we strive to make these historical resources accessible to the public, fostering education, appreciation, and a deeper connection to our local history.
